Reducing the amount of energy used while maintaining the highest standards in food safety is one of our biggest challenges.

But it's a challenge we are rising to through a combination of operation changes, internal awareness campaigns and staff training. We continue to improve upon this and 80% of the energy we now use is provided by renewable sources such as wind turbines and solar panels

In 2006, energy consumption at Brakes fell by an impressive 1 million Kwh - equivalent to powering 6,000 kettles a day or lighting 10,000 homes every evening for a year.
